FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 2018/9/12 World Council Allies with Ridge Global Cybersecurity Institute to Offer Cybersecurity Oversight for Executives CourseWASHINGTON, D.C. – World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU), in collaboration with Gov. Tom Ridge, the first U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security and Chairman of the Ridge Global Cybersecurity Institute, today announced the launch of the Cybersecurity Oversight for Executives course. The Ridge Global Cybersecurity Institute is a go-to source for all cybersecurity related services. World Council is the leading voice for advocacy and governance on behalf of the international credit union community. Together, the two organizations are proud to release an online cybersecurity certificate program tailored for executives in the credit union industry. Through Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute, the CERT certificate program will establish a baseline of cybersecurity awareness and knowledge, encourage effective cybersecurity oversight and guidance, and further evolve the executive’s role in cybersecurity risk oversight. “Not a day goes by without some sort of infiltration into the networks,” said Gov. Ridge. “Those in the financial industry have a crosshair on them. It is a fiduciary responsibility not only to protect the money, but to also protect the data.” The customized program responds to the consistent cybersecurity challenges World Council institutions and their members are facing across the globe, expanding online learning opportunities and contributing to the professional development of World Council members. “Engaging in this important alliance with Ridge Global Cybersecurity Institute, educates credit union industry executives on how to manage cyber risk, prevent attacks and protect the institutions and their members while looking out for their best interests,” said World Council President and CEO Brian Branch.
